Simon Rimaz’s series is based on press photographs collected from newspaper archives across the United States. The artist focused on how the images were cropped for publication, then obeyed the crop marks and eliminated the selected section, leaving the viewer only with the frame and a view of the back of the cropped section. With its center amputated, the print remains as little more than a frame.
